Career started at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Timonium, Maryland in 1977 as Apprentice Golf Professional under the tutelage of Mr. Johnny Bass legendary Baltimore Golf Professional.

Became Head Golf Professional in 1981-1985.

Started Jay Perkins Golf Shops in 1987 and operated the golf stores for 13 years and sold the business in 2000. The golf stores were named Top 100 Golf Shops in America in 1997 and 1998 by Golf Shop Operations. Baltimore Magazine voted JPGS Baltimore's Best Golf Shops in 1988, 89, 96, and 97.

Some of the many charities involved with through golf included: Leukemia Society, ARC Northern Chesapeake Region, Harford County, Joanne Rockwell House at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Manna House, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Johns Hopkins Children's Center and many others.

Bel Air High School Graduate 1974.

Attended Harford Community College 1975-1976

Graduate of Towson University in 1979 with Major in Business.

Presently residing in Havre de Grace, Harford County
